teeeechnically i was only tagged by [personal profile] corpsebrigadier out of proxy but that counts and im taking it!!!

1. How long have you been in fandom?

I would say I've been in fandom pretty much since I was old enough to hold a controller; so about 15 years?

2. Which fandoms are you in now?

Oh boy... mostly Final Fantasy, Pokemon, Elder Scrolls, Stardew Valley, and a mishmosh of other fandoms that I don't feel like listing out because I haven't produced any/much content for them.

3. Do you create transformative works (fic, fan art, podfic, etc.)?

Absolutely! I mostly write fic but veeery rarely I will swallow my pride and draw fanart.

4. What was your first fandom?

Pokémon! I can't say whether or not I would have gotten into it as an adult if I hadn't been into it as a kid but it's pretty much the first game from my memories. Pokémon Blue to be exact-- my brother's copy. Final Fantasy Tactics and Castlevania Symphony of the Night follow behind very closely and Tactics especially gets a shout out because I was obsessed with it even before I fully understood the weight of the plot.

5. How often has fic made you cry?

Not very often! I'm not ashamed to speak of one fic that made me cry though for sure; A Bed of Rusted Narcissus by Jaydee_Faire. It was written for me actually, and took a character that is so loathed by the fandom and gently laid him to rest. That's all I'll say but. Gosh... it's such a good fic.

6. Rec a fic that you love!

I will be resolute and not recommend two FFT fics in a row so I will set out A Hop, Skip, and Jump Away by Jerenda. It's a cute Pokémon fic about the gen 2 mother 'w'

7. Who's your ult OTP?

Currently, it's Millona and Corvus Umbranox. Corvus is so charming that even I, the player, cannot help but feel like forgiving him for being a scoundrel. (Trying to avoid distinct spoilers here but a pinch of them is unavoidable.) And the fact that Millona, even through her grief, kept running Anvil alone (a county that is implied to not even be hers but by marriage) and was kind to all of the other people living in Anvil instead of lashing out with her emotions is rife with explorations for me. You can see the fics I currently have for them, in a rough chronological order, here. (There might be a new fic added soon!)

8. Share a pic that would convince someone to fall for your current fandom!

I'll consider my 'current fandom' to be the one I'm currently hyperfixating on. Sooo... I don't have any pictures on hand but please consider playing elder scrolls oblivion or even just watching someone play oblivion. it's something you have to see to believe, really. the musical scores, the painted backgrounds, the... the infinitely meme-able folks who live in Oblivion-era Tamriel... it's all good.

9. Have you ever met a fandom friend IRL?

Nope! But I have communicated with many of my fandom friends over voice chat. It's a surprisingly intense feeling to hear someone's voice when you've only read their texts before. Nevermind *seeing* them.

10. What's the last fandom merch or craft you got?

That would be the pair of Dishonored zines I last participated in, Dunwall Days & Karnaca Nights! It came with both zines (I was only in Dunwall Days though), stickers, pins, and a dotted notebook to write things in. All in all a lovely gift to receive months after I had already written for the zine.

11. Rare pairs, big ships, or gen?

I tend to go for gen these days but who knows? Sometimes the shipping fancy rears its head and it could be rare or it could be a big ship.

12. Are you multi-fandom or mono-fannish?

Ahaha, as evidenced above I am multi-fandom. But I do tend to be a little selective about what fandoms I get into. I try to avoid BIG BIG fandoms because I hate the idea that they might implode one day and fill me full of fan-shards.

13. When did you last travel for a con, concert, fanmeet, or cupsleeve event?

I am not capable of long-distance travelling so the last con I went to was a local con at the library years ago when I was in high school. It was more of a "come get your general anime/japanese merch and show off your anime prowess near elderly people who care more about fishing than mangas" than any specific fandom, but I appreciate the ability to have any sort of con in my town at all.

14. How did you get into your current fandom?

I have been playing Oblivion since I was a wee ink and much like the other games listed here, I was able to play it thanks to my father and brothers providing me with a rich pool of RPGs that included this one.

15. What's your favorite trope?

Flower language. I'm not sure if that's a trope in of itself but the idea that humans, throughout all ages of existence and all possible universes, use flowers to communicate is a beautiful one to me. Gives flowers an eternal quality they do not have otherwise.

16. What are 3 tags that will make you click no matter what?

I'm a sucker for domestic fluff, missing scenes, and hurt/comfort. (Sometimes just comfort!)

17. Fav fest you've prompted/read/written for?

Press Start! Video games are an unsurprising majority of the fandoms I'm in; getting to write for other people's video game fandoms (some of which might be mine) is exciting!

18. Share an upcoming fest you're excited about!

Well I was excited for [community profile] press_start_comm again this year but not only have I missed the sign-ups deadline by accident but the community here itself seems not to have been updated since last year. I hope the moderator(s) are alright.

19. What's your favorite episode, song, moment, etc. from your current fandom?

Please take a listen to the Oblivion soundtrack.

20. Tag three fandom friends!

Unfortunately I am taking the same route as CorpseBrigadier and saying that if you read this (and want to do it!) -- you are tagged!

guuuhhh ghhghh bleeghhghh

...okay now that I have gotten the incoherent (hehe) noises out of the way, onto the coherent complaining!
Well okay not all of it is complaining but a portion of it is, considerably, complaining. Mostly what I came here to say is that college is about to keep me busy again, with two classes! And more unfortunately, that I've been driven around the emotional rollercoaster since Father's Day.

It was an otherwise average Father's Day actually, until someone in my family decided to make it harrowing and awkward and harrowingly awkward with certain choices of theirs. And considering I see that someone a lot... things have been rough. I cannot resort to rage so the next best thing is existing as a mostly functional lump of flesh.

As you can imagine, such a state is not conducive to writing. But even though I've probably missed a writing deadline or two (or five) I guess I'll just have to post stuff when I do. C'est la vie, right? I hope y'all are doing much better than I am though, of course. Feel free to let me know how ya doing in the comment section.

laters!

I have put some of my fics away. I did not delete them, just put them in an unrevealed group so that they won't show up in my list of fictions.

I would rather not glimpse at them right now for one reason or another. I apologize if this has lead to some dissatisfaction but I need the time to process some things and right now this is part of that. It is certainly not permanent, I don't think.

Thank you for understanding. I hope everyone has a good day-- okay though, back to regular archival posts.

I think one of my biggest flaws as a writer is that I don't plan hardly any fic I'm writing most of the time-- and that then feeds into my desire to see the 'payoff' of the fic as soon as humanly possible, which leads to my fics being rushed. Really rushed at times...

I need to work on this. I know this. I just got to teach myself to sit down and outline at least a little. A lot of my friends who also write keep at least a basic checklist of notes to consult; maybe I could start there with that technique?

I apologize in advance if anyone's feed gets absolutely spammed with posts from me-- including this post right here. This account is largely a nexus though to which I link to all of my fics (completed or otherwise) so that there is more of a chance for a wider audience.

The worst part is that I'm mostly still filling out a backlog-- I haven't gotten to the precious few fics I have written for 2021 yet.

That being said, I do want to briefly mention how I am excited for the Press Start and Trick or Treat exchanges to come rolling back around. I think those will be the two I mainly indulge in regardless of other sign-ups I may attempt. I do still like participating in these exchanges, even if they inherently stress me out as the deadline draws nearer, heh. And as always, I'm open to suggestions of other exchanges or even perhaps to man an exchange of my own? We'll see.

Again though, I'm sorry if you refresh your feed and all you see for a few posts is my surprisingly incredible backlog of fics I haven't linked here yet.

So I found the remnants of an old fic that was for a different pairing; but I am sorely tempted to reconfigure it for an idea a friend gave me (perhaps unintentional on their part) a few days ago.

The old fic itself was just expanding on a drabble I wrote from an old rp blog back in the day into a full story-- but I feel it might have more potential as part of this au idea I have stewing in my head. I might as well just make it its own series alongside the sort of general series that might serve as a companion piece.

I am aware how vague I am being but honestly I'm a slight nervous to go through with this idea...

As the title says, I've fallen behind on posting here!

I forgot amid the chaos of 2020 and the starting dumpster fire of 2021, but that's an excuse no longer. Hopefully by tonight I'll have several new fanworks to share with you all-- some already posted to AO3 for a time and some fresh off the presses.

With that being said, I thought about once again trying to engage in exchanges if not starting a couple of small ones myself. Would anyone be interested in that?
